CNN’s Jim Acosta, one of Trump’s biggest media critics, took a puny potshot at the president Wednesday when he alleged Trump faces a “Great Wall” of opposition in the U.S.

In an interview with Wolf Blitzer from Beijing, Acosta offered an update on the president’s ongoing trip to Asia, then alleged Trump “is facing major political problems back home.”

Acosta noted that Trump met with several high-profile Chinese leaders Wednesday after calling for help to reign in North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the South Korean assembly the night prior.

“The longer we wait, the greater the danger grows and the fewer the options become,” Trump told the assembly.

“Now the president may act unilaterally against North Korea. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters the president may decide to put North Korea back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism,” Acosta said. “He may do that by the end of this trip, but Wolf it’s a good thing the president can focus on foreign policy because as you said he’s facing major political problems back home.”

Acosta went on to outline the alleged “major political problems,” which include Democratic victories for the Virginia governorship and other races this week. He also pointed to Trump’s recent post to Twitter that read, “Congratulations to all of the ‘DEPLORABLES’ and the millions of people who gave us a MASSIVE (304-227) Electoral College landslide victory!”

“The president is neglecting the fact that he lost the popular vote in the 2016 election,” Acosta said. “He’s also ignoring some very serious poll numbers in our new CNN poll which shows that the public believes he does not deserve re-election, don’t trust him, and they’ve lost confidence in him since he was elected a year ago …

“So it’s a good thing he’s here in China because he’s facing a Great Wall of opposition back in the U.S.”

About the poll, according to CNN:

Overall, just 36% say they approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS, worse by one percentage point than Trump’s previous low of 37%, reached in October. Disapproval has also reached a new high at 58%, with nearly half (48%) saying they strongly disapprove of the way the President is handling his job.

More Americans than ever before express concern about contacts between suspected Russian operatives and Trump’s presidential campaign. Forty-four percent say they are “very concerned” about those reports, up from just 27% saying so in July, shortly after news broke about a meeting at Trump Tower between Donald Trump, Jr. Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and a Russian lawyer, among others.

Of course, those figures comes from the same news agency that predicted Hillary Clinton would prevail over Trump in the 2016 election.

“With one day to go before Election Day, CNN’s Poll of Polls shows Clinton leading Trump by a narrow 4-point margin: 46% to 42%,” CNN reported at the time.

CNN’s Political Prediction Market, which relied on Internet users to predict the election outcome, gave Clinton a 91 percent chance of becoming president.
