The way Nancy Pelosi sees it, Democrats will “win big” in 2018.

The 77-year-old House Minority Leader made the prediction during a recent press conference in which she dismissed criticisms from Republicans as simply politics as usual.

“I don’t think your opponents should choose your party’s leaders. I think that we have an important case to make. If they’re coming after me, because of my city and they’re against LGBT, and they’re against poor children, that’s been my mantra – the poor children in America I’m here to support. Yes, I am a liberal,” she said.

“But I don’t think it’s, uh, the misrepresentations, demonizations that are put out against any leader on the Democratic side. Whoever the leader is will be the target, Tip O’Neill was the target, that’s just the way it is. Tom Foley was the target, that’s just the way it is,” Pelosi continued.

“But, uh, no, I feel pretty confident that we’re going to win, we’re going to win big, we’re going to win a lot of seats and, uh, that’s going to be good for the American people.”

Pelosi has become a lightning rod in recent special elections leading up to the 2018 midterms, including races in Georgia and Pennsylvania. Most recently in Pennsylvania, Democratic candidate Conor Lamb was forced to distance himself from Pelosi’s San Francisco values, stating explicitly that he would not support Pelosi as House speaker if Democrats take control of the lower chamber.

“I’ve already said on the front page of the newspaper that I don’t support Nancy Pelosi,” Lamb said in a television ad days before the March 13 election. “The real issues are the ones that affect your lives.”

The pushback follows repeated calls from Democrats for fresh leaders, as well as Pelosi’s countless embarrassing public gaffes in recent months, from criticizing $1,000 tax cut bonuses as “crumbs,” to public appearances marred by slurred speech, mispronounced words, facial spasms, brain freezes and other oddities, such as claiming she eats “nails for breakfast,” The American Mirror reports.

There’s also Pelosi’s relentless calls for gun control, support for groups like Planned Parenthood and illegal immigrant criminals, and other wacky policy ideas like mowing the grass along the southern border as a solution for rampant illegal migration.

In the same press conference that she dismissed critics of her leadership, Pelosi suffered several brain freezes and repeatedly stared blankly at reporters. She flubbed Conor Lamb’s name as she welcomed him to the House, and she repeatedly lost her breath while discussing the Republican tax cuts, which she claimed “83 of the benefits to the top 1%,” The American Mirror reports.

“Seven in 10 will not sh- hire new employees. Seven in 10 will not hire new employees,” she repeated.

The former House Speaker also complemented herself on what she considered a great speech to students who skipped school to protest against guns.

“My best line they like,” she patted herself on the back.
