During a segment Sunday on MSNBC, that’s the million dollar question that was asked by Elie Mystal, a liberal activist and editor of Above The Law.

Mystal took issue with Democrats challenging Pelosi’s leadership and efforts to build a coalition to block her bid to become the Speaker after Democrats regained control of the U.S. House of Representatives last week.

The liberal blogger was also raising an interesting question about the apparent sexism rotting in the Democratic Party. Why are so many Democrats against Pelosi, who helped Democrats win, but not against Schumer, who oversaw Republicans gaining seats in the Senate?

Mystal argued that Democrats should be demanding Schumer resign, especially after Republicans picked up two seats in the Senate in the midterms.

“I do not want to hear people talking about whether or not Nancy Pelosi gets to keep her job before we talk about whether or not Chuck Schumer gets to keep his job. The Democratic party needs to have some accountability,” Mystal said.

“Chuck Schumer spent two years giving away the entire store and all he’s come back home with is a bag of beans,” he added, with some members on the panel nodding as if they agreed.

Mystal has been raging against Schumer for several months. In August, he published a piece unloading on the New York Democrat for not standing up to President Donald Trump, whom Mystal called a “white supremacist.”

“No current Democrat epitomizes the cowardice and softness of Democratic Party leadership as much as Democratic Minority Leader Charles Schumer. When Kanye West said slavery was a choice, he should have been talking about Chuck Schumer. Schumer holds no real political power, yet represents a district (the state of New York) where he probably cannot be defeated,” Mystal wrote.

He added: “This should FREE Schumer to stand in moral and righteous opposition to the white supremacist takeover of America led by Donald Trump and his cabal of Senate and House Republicans.”

Aside from Mystal, several Democrats have voiced their concerns with Schumer’s inability to get liberal policies over the finish line and stand up to Trump and Republicans.

In July, Rev. Al Sharpton, former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile and 176 other “Black Women Leaders and Allies” sent out a letter trashing Schumer for not doing enough to “protect” outspoken California Rep. Maxine Waters.

In a July 3 letter, the 178 black leaders gave their “full support for Congresswoman Maxine Waters” after she urged supporters to publicly harass and confront Trump administration officials.

Schumer criticized Waters’ rhetoric, but the black leaders argued that Waters was comparable to a human Statue of Liberty.

“For Black women, who are the most loyal base of the Democratic Party and the Progressive Movement, Congresswoman Waters is our hero. At this critical juncture in our nation’s history, Maxine Waters stands bold and unafraid, serving as a beacon of light and hope, her singular voice, speaking powerfully and urging the nation to the moral high ground of justice,” the letter read.

At the time, Waters also tore into Schumer, saying he “will do anything” to remain in power.

One might think that Schumer — who high fived a Democratic colleague after voting against a 20-week abortion ban and said “there’s no presumption of innocence” for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, would be in good standing with his own party.

But it appears even he isn’t far left enough for his own party.
