Fox News is reporting Hillary Clinton is being investigated by the FBI under a law intended for spies.
An intelligence source tells Fox News that an “elite FBI team” is leading the “extremely serious investigation” into the former Secretary of State’s home email server. Fox’s Katherine Herridge says the FBI is investigating Clinton under a provision, 18 U.S. Code § 793, of the Espionage Act which reads:
“Whoever, being entrusted with or having lawful possession or control of any document…through gross negligence…or having knowledge that the same has been illegally removed…and fails to make prompt report of such loss…shall be fined under this title or imprisoned.”
The Fox report cites an email from Clinton aide Huma Abedin that cited intelligence from three agencies.
