Some of us double check for our wallets more than others, apparently.
Police say 25-year-old Benjamin Alexander Shaw threatened what could have been a two-stage robbery.
Shaw demanded the Florida convenience store’s money – he got $40 – “stating that if the clerk did not pay the money, Shaw would go home and get a gun and take all the money in the register,” according to Florida Today.
But amid the threats, Shaw allegedly left a key piece of evidence at the Cape Canaveral Circle K convenience store: his wallet.
When police arrived, the store clerk handed it to them, which included Shaw’s license, according to ABC News.
The suspect was apprehended a few blocks away and the store clerk made a positive ID. The incident was also caught on security cameras.
When police arrested Shaw, they allegedly found “a small glass pipe in his possession that had cocaine residue in it.”
Shaw was charged with robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
