A new study finds the likes of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are successful in part because they were born with a “business face.”

Scientists at the University of Warwick in Coventry, England, refer to the specific combination of features as the look of “natural competency,” according to the UK Metro.

The study claims employers are more likely to select people with these specific facial characteristics for advancement.

They say attributes such as thin, young-looking faces, long noses and close set eyes lead people to see them as ambitious, disciplined and competent.

Researchers conclude Gates, or others like Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer got to where they are because their face “fitted.”

“Our findings imply that within business, military and sport, individuals who achieve the highest positions of leadership share common facial features that distinguish them from leaders in other domains,” says Dawn Eubanks of Warwick University Business School.

“The most plausible explanation, in our view, is that leaders are being selected, at least partly, according to how they look.

“These findings are particularly noteworthy for those involved in leadership selection decisions,” Eubanks tells the Metro.

“It is important to not let implicit biases get in the way and ensure that there is a rigorous selection process in place.”
