He may break the law with gusto, but there’s an ounce of honesty in him.
So honest, after being arrested over a dozen times and receiving 7 felony convictions, 25-year-old Robert Phillips put “drug dealer” as his profession on his arrest report.
Police say he cut in front of an unmarked Palm Beach County Sheriff’s car and nearly caused a crash, according to NBC 6.
When they ran the plates, they discovered it was a stolen car.
An officer pursued the suspect and “watched as he engaged in a drug transaction.”
The Palm Beach Post reports:
Deputies in marked patrol cars caught up to Phillips, who fled at a high rate of speed. Phillips eventually pulled into a parking lot and ran into the Michaels art and hobby store at 2021 Okeechobee Boulevard. Once inside the store, Phillips barrelled into a female customer, knocking her down while dropping a loaded handgun, the report said.
Phillips ran out the back of the store where deputies were awaiting his exit. A police dog was deployed to apprehend Phillips, who was in possession of 22 grams of heroin and $2,316 in cash, according to police.
They allegedly found 5.3 grams of crack cocaine, a drug scale and hypodermic needles in the vehicle.
After the incident, Phillips faces a bed sheet of new charges:
- Three counts of resisting arrest with violence
- Two counts of possession of drug equipment
- Heroin trafficking
- Possession of a weapon or ammunition by a career criminal
- Possession of cocaine with intent to sell
- Committing a first-degree felony with a weapon
- Fleeing and eluding law enforcement at a high rate of speed
- Striking a police animal
- Battery
- Driving with a suspended license
He remains in jail on a $242,000 bond.
Police say Phillips listed “drug dealer” as his occupation on the arrest report.
