A 50-year-old Detroit woman is accused of bludgeoning a friend with a slow cooker after an argument about politics.

Tewana Sullivan will head to trial in June, charged with the death of 66-year-old Cheryl Livy at Livy’s Livonia apartment in a senior housing complex last year, WWJ reports.

Police say Sullivan hit Livy with a Crock Pot on her head, face and mid-back.

The victim’s hand wounds indicate “she tried to protect herself,” according to the Detroit News.

“The Crockpot is busted over her head with the cord around her throat. She was barely breathing,” Oakland County Medical Examiner Dr. Ljubisa Dragovic testified at a preliminary hearing.

Thomas Blauvelt says he found “blood all over the walls, all over the floor, all over the victim.”

Livy was rushed to the hospital where she died three days later.

Sullivan’s attorney, John McWilliams, says the two were arguing about “presidential politics.”

The lawyer adds his client’s blood alcohol level that day registered at 0.41 – five times the legal driving limit.

“It’s a recipe for tragedy,” McWilliams says. “That’s just out of sight.”

So far, he hasn’t indicated who took which side in the argument.

Another police officer, Michael Lewallen, testified Sullivan was saying “I’m sorry. I did it. I’m sorry. I did it. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. She was sobbing. She was crying.”
