A company has published an edited Bible that makes it more gay-friendly.
“Queen James” – a play on King James, the most popular version – has published the “Queen James Version,” in its words, “to resolve interpretive ambiguity in the Bible as it pertains to homosexuality: We edited those eight verses in a way that makes homophobic interpretations impossible.”
They believe the eight versus “in a book of thousands” needed to be reinterpreted to be less “anti-LGBT.”
The company claims “King James I was a well-known bisexual. Though he did marry a woman, his many gay relationships were so well-known that amongst some of his friends and court, he was known as ‘Queen James.’
“It is in his great debt and honor that we name The Queen James Bible so.”
One of the passages edited by the Queen James company is Leviticus 20:13, which reads, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
The company responds, “Leviticus is outdated as a moral code.”
That version now reads, “If a man also lie with mankind in the temple of Molech, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
This version of the Bible isn’t the only attempt to “modernize” Christianity.
Popular “pastor” Rob Bell recently told Oprah Winfrey that he believes the Americans are ready to embrace homosexuality and same-sex marriage and, as Truth Revolt puts it, “if the church hopes to stay relevant, it must accept those relationships and stop looking to the Bible as its best defense.”
“I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life with someone,” Bell said.
Truth Revolt notes Bell no longer attends church, but instead is “churching” in service to his community.
