The National Action Network annual convention speaker’s list is a who’s who of progressive racialists.

There is, of course, Al Sharpton. Former ACORN president Bertha Lewis is a moderator for a panel on housing, according to the schedule of events.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, a prospective 2016 presidential candidate, has been given a prime speaking spot and will undoubtedly be kissing Sharpton’s ring.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, U.S. mayors Ras Baraka, Bill de Blasio, Stephen K. Benjamin, and Michael Nutter, and New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Comptroller Tom DiNapoli will be there, too.

Several Obama administration officials will be attending as well, according to a press release from NAN. They include:

  • Julián Castro, Secretary, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development;
  • Arne Duncan, Secretary, U.S. Department of Education;
  • Broderick Johnson, Assistant to the President, White House Cabinet Secretary, and Chair of the My Brother’s Keeper Task Force.

But a curious name sticks out amongst the anti-police, Big Labor, race activists: Ben Carson.

Carson Sharpton
Dr. Carson is slated to address the convention in a 15-minute time slot on April 8.

The American Mirror reached out to Carson’s exploratory committee to glean what his message will be to Sharpton’s audience, but no one responded.

Carson has been critical of Sharpton before, most recently for his involvement in the Ferguson riots.

Appearing on Fox News last August, Carson thought some of the focus on race was misplaced.

“Why not, Rev. Sharpton, focus some of this energy on the real problems.

“How many black males were killed by police last year? A hundred. How many black males were killed by other black males? Five thousand — 50 to 1. That is a huge problem!”

We’ll report again on the contents of Carson’s message and the reaction.

Michael Steele, an MSNBC “conservative,” is the only Republican making an appearance.
