The FBI has announced the federal government will be monitoring Tuesday’s Chicago city election, which features incumbent Mayor Rahm Emanuel battling a challenge from Cook County Commissioner Chuy Garcia.

“Consistent with a long-standing practice of the office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office will monitor the election in Chicago on Tuesday, April 7, 2015,” United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Zachary T. Fardon announced today.

“As part of the monitoring effort, the office will operate a hotline for candidates or the public to call to report any complaints relating to voting. In addition, Assistant U.S. Attorneys will be available to respond to complaints as needed,” Fardon’s office adds.

That number is (312) 469-6157.

The U.S. Attorney’s office might have its hands full.

Last fall, President Obama appeared in person to vote during the midterm elections and The Gateway Pundit reported a poll worker shouted “Vote Democrat!” while the president was signing in o receive his ballot.

There was no report of anything being done about that incident.
