Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby arguably had her first taste with the legal system in the courtroom of Judge Judy.
Mosby, then known as Marilyn James, appeared in the fifth season of the show, when she sued a cigar shop owner for allegedly trashing her apartment, video of the episode unearthed by Fox 45 shows.
The Grio reports the episode was filmed in 2000 when Mosby was a college student.
She sued Ryan Johnson after he “allegedly broke her door, left cigarette burn stains and a ‘disgusting’ mess in her bathtub.”
Judge Judy sided with Mosby and ordered Johnson to pay her $1731.90 for clean up of the apartment.
“I feel like there’s finally some justice served,” Mosby says into the camera after the verdict. “I tried to speak to the DA. I spoke to police officers,” she says.
“Judge Judy … she finally gave me justice.”
Mosby was elected state’s attorney last year and is now prosecuting 6 Baltimore police officers whom she alleges are responsible for the death of Freddie Gray.
“To those who are angry, hurt, I urge you to channel energy peacefully,” she said when announcing the charges. “I heard your call for ‘no justice, no peace.’ However your peace is severely needed. To officers, these accusations are not an indictment of entire force.”
