According to police, Patrick Lynn Waits made himself right at home in the abode of one New Mexico resident.

Waits allegedly walked into an unlocked home and stole car keys. The stunned resident found him “baking a potato” in her kitchen, according to WISH TV.

The intruder’s noises awoke the homeowner, who found him in her kitchen, where he was allegedly “wiping down a counter top and baking a potato in her microwave oven.”

When she asked him what he was doing, he replied he was baking a potato. Naturally.

After she told him to leave, police say Waits “walked outside and left his potato in the microwave.”

He then allegedly began raking leaves in the front yard.

The homeowner convinced Waits to stay by saying she wanted to pay him for the yard work — likely a ploy to get him to stay until police arrived.

The man was found stumbling while walking, and he slurred when he talked, according to police.

Waits was arrested on burglary and unlawful entry charges. He reportedly failed to appear in court, so felony charges have been added to his case.
