Some black lives matter more than others, apparently.
An 8-year-old boy was the victim of a shootout between two rival rappers in Charleston, South Carolina.
According to police, the boy was approached by “a group of rival rappers who began hurling insults,” the Post and Courier reports.
The group warned, “Don’t come back ’round here!” just before rapper “Lil D” brandished a pistol. “Lil D” – a 16-year-old whose real named is Deomontae Wallace – then allegedly pointed the handgun and fired shots into the crowd as people ran from the scene.
The 8-year-old boy was struck in the arm after he was “caught in the middle” of the fight.
While people ran, rival rappers allegedly yelled after the fleeing group, “Quit fakin’!”
Wallace is “charged as an adult with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, first-degree assault and battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime,” the paper reports.
“This is awful,” Wallace’s aunt, Tianai Lee, says. “But sometimes bad things happen for a good reason. I told him, ‘maybe God took you off the streets for a little while for a reason. … You live and learn.’”
She didn’t speculate as to what “good reason” there could be for an innocent boy being shot.
Regardless, Lee believes they have the wrong person.
“This is unexpected,” she tells the paper. “His mother is going to die.”
Less than two months ago, a 5-year-old was paralyzed by a stray bullet only a few blocks away. He was visiting his grandmother.
So far, organizers of the “Black Lives Matter” protesters have not commented.
