A creepy clown is lurking in Chicago’s Rosehill Cemetery.
Chicago resident Julia Graham and her husband snapped several photos of a clown at the cemetery recently as he scaled the facility’s 7-foot wrought iron gate and taunted the couple from inside, CBS Chicago reports.
Graham told the news site she was driving by with her husband around 10 p.m. earlier this month when she noticed a figure running toward the main gate.
“When we get closer, we realize it’s a clown, which is super weird,” Graham said.
The couple snapped a picture as the clown crested the gate.
“I mean, this was somebody putting forth a lot of effort – and being really weird,” Graham said.
She said they decided to stay around for a minute to see what the clown would do, but he wasn’t the least bit concerned.
Standing on the other side, the clown slowly waved as the Grahams took video. The spooky goof then ran off into the darkness.
Graham said the episode left her “freaked out.”
Cemetery officials told CBS Chicago there haven’t been any other complaints or vandalism, or other clown sightings. City police also said there’ve been no other reports of creepy clowns around town.
But it’s not the first time a weirdo has pranced around in a clown outfit and creeped people out.
Last March, an unidentified person regularly stood around public places on Staten Island with a bunch of balloons and waived at people, PIX 11 reports.
From the YouTube description of the PIX 11 news broadcast:
The silent clown, which loosely resembles the Pennywise character from the Stephen King book “It,” has been spotted at various locations — including street corners and train stations — throughout the borough, holding a bouquet of balloons and waving at passersby.
“Guess who ain’t sleeping tonight,” Robert Privitera wrote upon seeing the creepy clown.
“He was just kinda standing there waving,” Vincent Innocente told the Staten Island Advance of his encounter with the yellow-clad character.
“So I’m a little freaked out right now,” Michael Leavy wrote on Instagram March 17. “I was driving home from Buffalo Wild Wings and saw this waving at me. #wtf … is this real life?
“We were looking outside and he was just standing there with balloons,” local Frankie Paterno told Pix 11. “It’s creepy, especially at night time.”
Another clown has apparently been spotted walking through Brooklyn’s Greenwood Cemetery a number of people over the last several years, a video of which was posted to YouTube in July 2014.
And UPI reported last October on numerous “reported en-clown-ters” that were photographed or videotaped in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Fishers, Indiana, and Jacksonville, Florida.
