Video shot from the back seat of a car pulled over by New York police purports to show the driver being pulled from the front seat and beaten by three officers after he allegedly double parked in front of a chicken restaurant.
Timothy Nelson admits he double parked in front of Kennedy Fried Chicken in The Bronx and then made an illegal U-Turn.
The man was pulled over by NYPD officers and produced his license, but that is when officers pulled him from the car and began punching him, presumably to subdue Nelson, who had “concerns for his safety.”
“I asked what was the problem and they didn’t say anything,” Nelson tells DNA info. “I was no longer double parked. They said they were taking me to jail, they cuffed me through the window.”
Police say Nelson swore at them during the altercation.
“He was punching me, three times. He punched in my face and my nose,” Nelson says. “I have a chipped fracture in the right side of my nose.”
A growing crowd can be seen engaging the officers on behalf of Nelson. One woman, who is also recording the incident from a few feet away, can be seen having her phone swatted out of her hand by an officer.
“You can hear me screaming [in the video], I’m screaming. They’re kneeing me and pulling my hair,” he says. “It was just too much.”
Nelson ended up being arrested — for resisting arrest.
According to DNA info, “he was also charged with a minor traffic violation and possessing marijuana after a small amount of pot fell out of his pocket during the struggle.”
The man has pleaded not guilty and is due back in court Sept. 10.
