A man thought he could steal a random suitcase from the carousel at Chicago’s O’Hare airport, but little did he realize its contents would garner him no sympathy.
Police say 35-year-old Noel Fulgencio took the suitcase Tuesday morning, which contained at least $68,000 worth of human-hair wigs meant for cancer patients, DNA info reports.
Online retailers sell human-hair wigs for between $100 and $3,000 each, according to the news site.
Fulgencio was apprehended in the city a few days later. The suitcase and its complete contents was recovered at that time.
His bond was set at $900,000 during a Saturday hearing, according to the Chicago Tribune. He was charged with one felony count of theft.
The suitcase, containing 49 wigs, a pair of Michael Kors shoes, several metal bracelets and clothing, belonged to a woman from Flushing, New York.
Unable to post bond, he remains in custody.
