A 36-year-old man remains in the hospital after he decided to pick on a group of senior citizens Saturday night.
Witnesses say John Tutson burst into a Littlerock, California home “yelling, cursing and challenging the residents to fight,” Cal News reports.
His first target was allegedly a 55-year-old woman in a wheelchair. He grabbed her “by the hair and threw her onto the floor when she ordered him to leave,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Tutson then allegedly stripped off all of his clothing and began punching an 80-year-old man who attempted to intervene. The senior citizen was then put in a chokehold.
“He got me in a chokehold and he wouldn’t let go,” Alfonso Mancillas tells NBC 4. “And my friend came out with a rifle and he told me I’m gonna shoot you if you don’t let go.”
“It was at that point the 70-year-old roommate intervened by striking the suspect on the head with the butt of a rifle,” Lt. Ken Wright, a spokesman for the department, says.
“I went up there and I just — bam! — hit him,” Benjamin Monarque says.
Tutson is an acquaintance of the victims. He had been to the home the previous day to borrow tools to work on his car. It’s not yet known why he decided to pick a fight with the elderly victims.
He was unable to be booked at the sheriff’s station because he was still in the hospital recovering from the injuries inflicted by the senior citizens.
The elderly victims, on the other hand, were “examined by Fire Department personnel” at the home “and declined further evaluation or treatment,” according to CBS 2.
