Juror #27 caused quite a stir at a Dallas courthouse this week, and Air Force veteran Desiree Bryant was fine with that.

Bryant tweeted a picture with her fellow potential juror at the George L Allen Sr. Courts Building: former President George W. Bush.

“They made it seem like it was an anonymous juror that never showed up and then they brought him in,” another potential juror, Sheri Coleman, tells The Dallas Morning News.

She says the former president spent time milling with the other jurors, adding the president’s appearance was “awesome” and “surprising.”

“He was very personable, very friendly, just ‘hey I’m here to serve,’ he asked questions and was very nice,” she tells the paper. “I loved it.”

President Bush ultimately was not questioned to potentially serve on the jury. He was Juror #27 and “we only got through number 23,” according to Judge Eric Moye.

Judge Moye says he appreciated Bush took his civic obligation seriously.

“One of the remarks I made to jury was all of you have some reason why you have to do something else,” he says. “But take a look over and see you have the former president who has given his time to be here, so think how good your excuses for getting out of here really are.”

Bush’s spokesman Freddy Ford confirmed to the paper the president was summoned and said Bush was at the courthouse for about three hours.

“He made sure it was a wonderful experience,” according to the judge.
