An illegal immigrant will get a 6-year taxpayer-funded stay in an American prison after he was found guilty of shooting his wife and her illicit lover.
Jesus Ruben Balli-Garcia was acquitted of murder in the death of his longtime friend Mario Colchado Garcia by a Nueces County, Texas jury.
But he was found guilty of “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for shooting his wife, deadly conduct for shooting at a house and evading arrest for leading police on an 85-mile chase south,” the Corpus Christi Caller Times reports.
The illegal immigrant was also sentenced “to two years for deadly conduct and two years for evading arrest with a vehicle.” The sentences will run concurrently.
Balli-Garcia’s wife, Samantha Estrada, said she believed the punishment was sufficient and he “didn’t deserve a lengthy sentence.”
He will be deported when he’s released.
Meanwhile, a suspected illegal immigrant accused of rape and kidnapping in Harrisonburg, Virginia was picked up some 640 miles away.
Acting on a “BOLO” warning — or Be On the Look Out — Auburn, Alabama police encountered Carlos D. Euceda-Cruz during a traffic stop.
“An investigation resulted in the discovery of outstanding arrest warrants on Euceda-Cruz for kidnapping and rape in Virginia,” OANow reports.
Euceda-Cruz was taken into custody by officers and charged with being a fugitive from justice, according to WTVM.
He’s currently being housed in the Lee County jail where he awaits extradition back to Virginia to face those charges.
