U.S. Border Patrol agents nabbed a previously convicted rapist after he illegally entered the country again last week.
Agents arrested Mauricio Toto-Xolo and a criminal complaint indicates he admitted to illegally entering the country August 13th. He was apprehended the following day in Pharr, Texas, Action 4 News reports.
He was convicted of rape in 2010 and sentenced to a year in prison. Breitbart Texas notes he was deported in November 2011, shortly after his release.
Meanwhile, a suspected illegal alien is accused of stealing a police officer’s patrol car.
Jose Carlos Escarcega, a Mexican citizen, is in the custody of the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports he was arrested in late July “on a first-degree felony count of aggravated assault against a public servant” after Lubbock police Cpl. Ryan Durrett tried to arrest him for theft of a vehicle.
During that incident, Escarcega entered the driver’s side of Durrett’s police-issued Tahoe and tried to drive away, according to a news release from the Lubbock Police Department. The vehicle crashed into a utility pole and Durrett suffered serious injuries.
Robin Wilkerson, a spokesperson with the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services, tells the paper Escarcega’s immigration status couldn’t be divulged due to “a privacy act.”
