Some pray for world peace. Others pray for an ill relative or that our leaders will make wise decisions.

Mayor Tony Yarber prays that the holes in his town’s roads will be filled.

He tweeted “Yes….I believe we can pray potholes away. Moses prayed and a sea opened up. #iseeya #itrustHim #prayerworks” on Friday.

The Jackson, Mississippi mayor and pastor was immediately ridiculed on Twitter.

Andy Dickson replied, “When you were my assistant principal you taught me how to tie a tie. I still know how. You didn’t tell me to pray about it.”

“You should ALWAYS pray,” Yarber responded.

WJTV reports it’s not the first time Yarber has discussed city issues on social media.

Earlier in August, the mayor tweeted, “I am disgusted to know that there are public officials both present and past who were deliberate obstructionists in my Costco efforts.”

In another, Yarber wrote, “Very poor display of your love for Jackson while obstructing it’s progress.”

The Democratic mayor is also pastor and founder of the non-denominational Relevant Empowerment Church.
