Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke calls it like he sees it. And he likes Donald Trump.
“I like that swagger, I really do,” he says of the billionaires brash approach, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Clarke believes Trump understands the nomination process is a popularity contest.
“Trump would be an OK president,” Clarke says.
The elected Democrat has a longtime friendship with Trump rival, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. The governor name-dropped Clarke during the Fox News debate.
The sheriff believes Walker’s campaign is “stuck in neutral.”
“Scott’s got to find that spark,” Clarke tells the paper, adding he doesn’t think Walker’s campaign pledges on Obamacare are going to sway many voters.
“The people have moved on, they are resigned to it,” according to Clarke. “That’s not going to excite anyone.”
The sheriff has been most vocal on race issues lately, in particular, the “Black Lives Matter” agitators.
Clarke appeared on “Hannity” last week and said, “Sean, let’s take a look at this group, this Black Lives Matter, which I have renamed ‘Black Lies Matter,’ and the reason I have is because, this is the bastard child, as you know, of the ‘Hands up, don’t shoot.’
“The whole thing is built on a lie. The whole premise is built on a lie. But it’s a conglomeration of misfits, alright, you have the Occupy movement, you have organized labor in on it now, you have criminals, you have black racialists, you have cop-haters, and anarchists have now formed together this full movement, if you will.
“No longer in the United States, and I think that I’m living proof of that, no longer can blacks as a whole claim victim status, except for one situation. They are victims to the Democrat Party in the United States of America, and what modern liberalism has done to the black family.”
