An argument over the Confederate flag ended with pots and cans flying instead.

confederate flagRock Hill, South Carolina police say 25-year-old Makayla Haney was “intoxicated and carrying her 2-year-old child when officers arrived,” The State reports.

Haney claimed she and “the father of her child” were arguing about flying the Confederate flag in the man’s back yard when she said “he pushed her to the ground and sat on her chest while the man’s father punched her in the back of the head.”

But the man — and a witness — have a different version of events, telling police Haney “grabbed him by the shirt and scratched his neck,” according to The Herald.

She then threw a can of corn at her child’s father, missing him.

When the man’s father impeded Haney’s pursuit while her victim fled, she began hitting hit him with a cooking pot, according to police.

Police found the cooking pot inside on the floor, while the can of corn was outside.

She allegedly changed her story to say she scratched her child’s father during questioning.

Haney was charged with third-degree assault and battery and third-degree domestic violence, the paper reports.
