An illegal immigrant who attempted to use a fake ID at a Texas gynecologist’s office was arrested on the spot.

Blanca Borrego was waiting for a scheduled appointment at Northeast Women’s Healthcare clinic in Atascocita when she was asked for identification to go along with some paperwork.

Borrego’s daughter tells the news service that her mother was about to leave after two hours of waiting when she was called back to an examination room. It was there that sheriff’s deputies arrested her.

“We’re going to take her downtown, she presented a form of false identification,” Borrego’s daughter claims deputies told her.

Her mother overstayed her visa, which expired 12 years ago. “She’s going to get deported,” the deputies allegedly told her.

Borrego’s attorney, Clarissa Guajardo, says her client was charged with one felony count of tampering with a government record — a Social Security card investigators found in Borrego’s purse.

Guajardo believes the clinic violated her client’s doctor-patient privilege by calling the police over the suspected forged ID.

“They took her into that examination room solely for the purpose of being arrested,” Guajardo tells the paper. “I just have a very hard time with that. I think it’s a violation of HIPPA laws.”

She adds, “It’s a basic human right to be able to get medical care.

“It wasn’t like she was getting public assistance, even. She had an established doctor-patient relationship with that gynecologist. This shouldn’t have happened like this.”

Borrego is currently housed in the Harris County jail on a $35,000 bond. Her family has not paid, believing deportation proceeding will begin once Borrego is released.
