Border Security isn’t saying how a semi truck loaded with 37 illegal aliens was able to make it across the Mexico border and into Texas.

illegals truckAgents from San Antonio and Laredo responded Friday to a potential human trafficking situation and seized a 18-wheeler at the Road Ranger truck stop off I-35 north of Pearsall, KENS 5 reports.

In the truck, local, state and federal law enforcement authorities found “dozens” of illegals.

They were removed from the truck and transported to local hospitals for treatment. ICE says none of them died, but their condition was not disclosed.

Several were reportedly dehydrated. Aerial footage showed used bottles of water strewn across the ground behind the truck.

After the bust, Border Patrol released a statement, saying:

On September 18, at around 4p.m., Cotulla Border Patrol Station received a call for assistance from Frio County Sheriffs Office regarding a concerned citizen call they received of several people locked inside a tractor trailer near a gas station on HWY 57 and 35.

Upon arrival to the scene, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Cotulla Station assisted Frio County Sheriff’s Deputies in taking custody of the people. A total of 37 undocumented aliens were located inside the trailer. EMS was requested and transported the people to several area hospitals for medical treatment. The case is currently under investigation by Homeland Security Investigation.

According to KENS 5, there’s no word on what happened to the driver of the truck.
