Captain America has apparently become Captain Mexico.

Marvel has decided to have the superhero tackle a political issue in the latest edition of the long-running comic book series.

In it, Captain America fights against a group — “The Sons of the Serpent” — that is securing the southern U.S. border.

Yes, to Marvel, those that oppose illegal immigration are snakes.

As the MacIver Institute reports:

The new villains in this comic are conservatives who are portrayed as a right-wing terrorist group calls the Sons of the Serpent. They stop a group of immigrants trying to cross the border who they accuse of invading a sovereign land to spread disease and crime, take American jobs and collect welfare.

“But until the mighty wall is built, you come here for employment that is rightfully ours! And if denied it, you seek welfare paid for by our tax dollars!” a member of the group says in the comic.

Another says, “Also, you know how you make me press a one for English at the beginning fo every call to my satellite provider? That is not something I can abide by!”

“While others are content to peacefully protest or vote in rigged elections, the Sons of the Serpent believe that aggression must answer aggression,” says another.  “I declare you all enemy combatants! You’re coming with use or you will feel the serpent’s bite!”

“Then Captain America comes and beats them up,” according to the MacIver report. “Those in the country who disagree with Captain America’s new partisan agenda accuse him of being anti-American, against the Constitution — they even call him Captain Socialism.”

But the superhero says all he wanted to do was to “bring folks together.”

Earlier in the issue, Captain America can be seen standing on a float in a gay pride parade beneath a banner that reads, “Marriage equality.”

MacIver notes Marvel Comics is owned by Disney and the company is currently in the middle of “reinventing itself.”
