They likely wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing to Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, but Republicans are fair game.
WISN talk radio host Dan O’Donnell says he visited Halloween Express’s Giant Pumpkin store in Milwaukee over the weekend with his son and was stunned to see a fake knife had been plunged through the head of his governor, Scott Walker.
“I did a double-take, not quite believing that one of the region’s biggest Halloween retailers could possibly think that such a provocative, violent political statement would be appropriate to display so prominently in its store,” O’Donnell says.
He recalled a time in 2013 when a rodeo clown wore a mask resembling President Obama in the ring and faced fierce backlash led by the mainstream media.
Despite doing nothing to the mask itself — merely wearing it — the participants were accused of racism.
CNN reported:
Rodeo announcer Mark Ficken, president of the Missouri Cowboy Rodeo Association and a school superintendent, announced a special guest: “President Obama.”
Another voice is heard over the loudspeaker working up the crowd and saying, “We’re going to stomp Obama now.”
“As soon as this bull comes out, Obama, don’t you move,” the second voice said. “He’s going to getcha, getcha getcha, getcha.”
“Hey, I know I’m a clown,” the second voice said. “He’s just running around acting like one. Doesn’t know he is one.”
The stunt sickened Perry Beam, who came to the fair in Sedalia with his wife and a student from Taiwan to “give him a little piece of Americana.”
Beam likened the atmosphere to a Klan rally.
“It wasn’t clean; it wasn’t fun. It was awful; it was sickening,” Beam said, “It was racist.”
The Missouri State Fair the clown involved has been banned from ever participating again.
O’Donnell says the Walker mask sells for $9.99. The host called the company’s headquarters in Kentucky and so far, they’ve ignored his inquiries.
