Man-on-the-street reporter Mark Dice recently posed as an MSNBC journalist gathering opinions on a fictitious “white privilege” tax.
The respondents overwhelmingly embrace the ideas of a “white privilege” tax and “spreading the wealth around.”
One man embraced the fictitious idea, saying “Everybody needs a little a little help … a little handout and minorities, they’re struggling.”
He added the “white privilege” tax would even things out “because the rich — the white people — have the money to fund the programs and put it in the organizations and make sure the minorities get the money to benefit themselves.”
“Spread the wealth,” another man said. “There’s millionaires with money in the bank that isn’t touched,” he said, saying it’s a “good thing” to get the money into the minority communities.
Another respondent said he hadn’t heard of the idea, but thought it was good.
“Obviously there needs to be redistribution of wealth through taxation,” he said.
One woman believes President Obama should have issued the “white privilege” tax years ago to even out income inequality among the races. “I think white privilege is a very big thing and white people should understand. … In terms of white privilege, it’s real and it needs to be acknowledged by a lot of people and understand their position and their privilege,” she said.
“If they have that money, why not help?” one respondent said, referring to the “higher privileged” Americans. “Why are you going to keep it all to yourself, why not help the world?” he said.
