It’s only by the “grace of God” that police officer Matt Stacy is still alive.
Tulsa, Oklahoma police were chasing a woman Friday who had allegedly stolen a vehicle from a Cadillac showroom. Stacy pulled over to the side of the road to deploy a stop stick near the entrance of Northwoods Fine Arts Academy, the Tulsa World reports.
His body cam shows him jump out of the car with his gun drawn and pointed at the on-coming SUV.
Stacy fired two rounds at the driver, allegedly 41-year-old Stacey Ann Bunsey, and missed her. Moments later, she hit him head-on and the officer’s camera begins tumbling.
Incredibly, Stacy received only “minor abrasions,” Sky News reports.
“My only explanation for that is he was under the protection of God because he very well should have been dead,” Sand Springs Police Chief Mike Carter says.
“She had two lanes she could have utilized to bypass the officer,” Carter said, estimating that Bunsey was driving 50 mph when she rammed the police car. “This is reflective of what’s going on because you can’t turn on the news at night and not see police denigrated.”
Bunsey allegedly admitted smoking methamphetamine prior to the incident. She can be heard yelling, “I’m God, bitch. Welcome to hell!” as she’s standing up through the sun roof.
She was tasered by officers and dragged from the vehicle after she was swearing and resisting arrest.
She is facing four felony counts including assaulting a police officer, eluding a police officer, driving under the influence and possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
