It seems John Kasich is still in the Republican presidential nomination race not to become president, but to take down front runner Donald Trump.

Kasich’s campaign released a web ad yesterday that likens Trump’s statements to those of Nazi Germany.

Using the words of Col. Tom Moe, Kasich’s campaign hits Trump’s “dangerous rhetoric.”

“I would like anyone listening to consider some thoughts that I paraphrase from the words of German pastor Martin Niemöller,” Moe says in the video.

“You might not care if Donald Trump says Muslims must register with the government, because you’re not one.

“And you might not care if Donald Trump says that he’s going to round up all the Hispanic immigrants, because you’re not one.

“You might not care if Donald Trump says it’s okay to rough up black protesters, because you’re not one.

“And you might not care if Donald Trump wants to suppress journalists, because you’re not one.

“But think about this: If he keeps going, and he actually becomes president, he just might get around to you. And you better hope there’s somebody left to help you,” Moe said over ominous music.

The Huffington Post notes Moe’s words are similar to those of Niemöller’s well-known quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Nationally, Kasich is currently polling at 2.8%, according to the Real Clear Politics average.
