It may be private property — and the name of an international corporation — but that doesn’t matter to Toronto city councilor Josh Matlow.
The councilor, who represents Ward 22 in Canada’s largest city, is demanding the owners of the Trump Tower remove “Trump” from its facade.
“I believe the owners of Toronto’s Trump Tower should change its name. Toronto is a diverse & respectful city,” one of Matlow’s Tuesday tweets read.
“I’m writing to the owners of the Trump Tower today to make this request.”
I believe the owners of Toronto's Trump Tower should change its name. Toronto is a diverse & respectful city. Donald Trump is a fascist.

Matlow’s demand comes the day after the Republican presidential front runner called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States,” according to CNN.
A representative of the building’s owner, Markham, Ont.-based Talon International Development, tells Global News, “Donald Trump’s opinions as a private citizen in no way reflect the position of our company’s views.”
