Have the Obamas officially worn out their welcome in Hollywood?
Comedian David Spade thinks the president of the United States and the first lady should be above Hollywood and pop culture, and that President and Mrs. Obama are a little desperate for attention.
Speaking to a TMZ reporter while standing outside a restaurant, Spade said, “I criticized Obama because a president should have a little more dignity,” referring to his recent critique of Obama’s appearance on “Running Wild With Bear Grylls.”
“I mean, I realize Woodrow Wilson went on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ once,” Spade said sarcastically, “but what president is doing reality shows? It just sounds weird to me and it’s just too much.”
He also criticized the TV venues where Michelle Obama chooses to appear.
“You know, Michelle Obama is on ‘Ellen’ more than I am. What first lady — it’s just a new world. I’m not used to it. It just seems a bit thirsty,” Spade said.
“I think they’re going to do fine but they’re just sort of plotting for after the White House. He’s on GQ? I’m like, ‘Leave that to Bradley Cooper.’
“You’re the president — you’re above all of us,” Spade said. “You’re above stars. You’re above everything.
“When he’s trying to get in the mix like ‘I want to present at the MTV awards,’ it’s like, alright guy, relax, you got it.”
