If you think Republicans are playing it rough and tough this primary season at the presidential level, it’s nothing compared to what Chicago Democrats are doing.
In the streets of the Windy City, it’s an all-out brawl.
On Friday, an incumbent state representative’s daughter was charged with three felony counts for allegedly brutally assaulting her mother’s opponent in Chicago’s 4th House District Democrat primary.
Bob Zwolinski, who lost Tuesday’s primary challenge, complained to police that State Rep. Cynthia Soto’s 26 year old daughter and a friend kicked, choked and hit him with a beer bottle, then stapled him in the head.
A photo Zwolinski’s injuries appeared to show a staple still sticking out of his scalp.
Zwolinski told NBC 5 he drove up to his office in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village on March 7th and found the two stapling Soto signs outside his building. He asked them to stop, and that’s when he was attacked, the police report says.
Soto’s attorney Frank Avila says Zwolinski misidentified his client in a lineup.
“There are a lot of inconsistencies with Mr. Zwolinski’s story,” Avila said.
Soto’s daughter Jessica Soto and her companion Bradley Fichter will face bond hearings Friday.
