Carlisle, Pennsylvania resident Daniel Frances Cobaugh Jr. faces a slew of criminal charges after police allege he attacked his sister because she was late getting home from church on Easter Sunday.
Susan Glover, Cobaugh’s sister, was “hysterical and crying” when police responded to a home on Fishing Creek Road around 1:21 p.m. Sunday. She told officers she got into a verbal argument with her brother upon returning home late from church, and she was forced to call 911 when things got physical, The York Daily Record reports.
“The argument led to Cobaugh picking up an object and threatening to stab Glover with it, according to court documents” cited by the news site.
Glover said he thought the object was a knife.
After threatening his sister’s life, Cobaugh “pushed Glover so hard that she flew from the kitchen into the dining room,” records show.
Glover told police her father, Daniel Cobaugh Sr., attempted to step in on her behalf, but Cobaugh Jr. strangled him with both hands before restraining the man by his shirt, which was ripped when police arrived, according to the news site.
Cobaugh was arrested on a charge of making a terroristic threat, two counts of harassment and three counts of assault, court records show.
“Cobaugh was arraigned on the charges and released on $5,000 unsecured bail,” The York Daily Record reports. “He has a preliminary hearing … scheduled for May 11.”
The alleged attack was among other bizarre crimes that allegedly occurred on Easter.
In Washington State, kids participating in a neighborhood Easter egg hunt were interrupted by a man yelling that his roommates were going to kill him.
“Police arrived in the area and learned that the disturbance was related to a marijuana distribution operation headquartered in a nearby home, police said,” according to the Associated Press.
“Three men, two aged 24 and one 27, were arrested on drug charges. Two of the men had warrants for their arrests from Missouri, police said.”
When police searched the home, they allegedly found 45 pounds of marijuana and $108,000 in cash.
Police seized the pot and five vehicles from the home, the AP reports.
