He insists he wasn’t talking about Hilary Clinton, even though he said her name twice in the previous two sentences.

Paul Y. Song, a speaker at Bernie Sanders’ Thursday Washington Park rally in New York City, ripped into those he believes block socialized medicine.

“Now Secretary Clinton has said that Medicare for all will never happen,” Song said to boos.

“I agree with Secretary Clinton that Medicare for all will never happen if we have a president who never aspires for something greater than the status quo. Medicare for all will never happen if we continue to elect corporate Democratic whores,” Song said to cheers, “who are beholden to big pharma and the private insurance industry instead of us.”

His statement begins around the 9:30 mark:

MSNBC producer Alex Seitz-Waltz noted the statement:

Song apologized, then claimed he was talking about Democrats in Congress — not the woman he mentioned in the preceding two sentences.

Sanders fans were so enamored with the description, it was trending on Twitter. As of Friday morning, it was still the #2 trending hashtag.
