The candidate with not one but two campaign planes is trying to cast herself as in touch with the people.
Hillary Clinton spoke to an audience in Wilmington, Delaware today and tried to make the argument it’s actually Donald Trump who is out of touch with voters.
“If you want to be president of the United States, you’ve gotta get familiar with the United States. You’ve got to spend time with Americans of all sorts and backgrounds in every part of our country.
“Don’t just fly that big jet in and land it and go make a big speech and insult everybody you can think of and then go back and get on that big jet and go back to your country club house in Florida or your penthouse in New York.
“I somehow don’t think that kind of puts you in touch with what’s going on. I have now spent more than a year talking and listening to people and I can tell you, there’s a lot of concern,” Clinton said.
Clinton’s dig at Trump is a bit ironic, given the fact that she’s documented as the candidate with two jets flying her entourage around the country.
“The Circus” features Clinton’s two campaign planes, noting it’s like “Battleship Clinton.”
“Unlike traveling with Bernie Sanders where you’re on his plane,” narrator Mark McKinnon says, “there’s no candidate on this plane,” while standing on Clinton’s press plane.
“She’s on another plane, so it’s harder to have any interaction. She’s in the bubble, tough to get through. Tough to get access.
“Sometimes it comes across like Battleship Clinton. But this ship is built to get through some pretty choppy waters,” McKinnon says.
