The Hillary Clinton campaign is already fretting about the all-important state of Ohio.

Hillary Clinton anniversary videoThe campaign sent an email to supporters Friday morning asking for money to be competitive in the state.

Ohio State Director Chris Wyant writes:

Hey — Chris here, I run our team in Ohio. No Republican has ever won the White House without winning the Buckeye State, and this year, we’re going to do our best to make sure that story doesn’t change.

But historically, Ohio has always come down to the wire — and we’re already starting in a tight race.

I’m ready to build a team that will work day and night to spread Hillary’s message of raising wages for the middle class, giving every kid a chance to graduate college debt-free, and making affordable health care a reality for every single American. We can win Ohio if we make sure voters know how much Hillary can help their families, but we don’t have any time to waste. We’ve got to start hiring right now to build a campaign that can bring home a victory on November 8th.

The email comes on the heels of another from campaign manager Robby Mook in which tried to gently sound the alarm:

You know how I feel about public polls — they’re erratic and unreliable, especially when you look at a general election match-up this far from Election Day. But a new poll came out yesterday of three key battleground states, and I need you to see it:

Florida: Clinton 43, Trump 42
Ohio: Clinton 39, Trump 43
Pennsylvania: Clinton 43, Trump 42
Source: Quinnipiac

I can’t say this enough times: These polls don’t predict the future. We can change them by making sure voters know about Hillary’s vision for our country. But we need to get started RIGHT NOW.

Clinton’s campaign is attempting to reassure supporters already — and it’s only May.
