A New Hampshire man allegedly robbed a local Stop-N-Go with a sharp rock around noon Tuesday, then returned sobbing to “turn himself in,” according to the store clerk.

reyesThe store clerk at the Stop-N-Go on Massabesic Street in Manchester told police a Hispanic man in a white shirt and blue pants came into the store shortly after noon on Tuesday and threatened him with a sharp stone and demanded cash, WMUR reports.

The man apparently grabbed some money before getting into a scuffle with the clerk that spilled out onto the sidewalk, where witness Saoul Haney said the man fled crying and apologizing.

“The gentleman who works here was struggling with some other guy when they came out of the store, and the guy that works there was kind of beating him off with a little baton,” Haney, who watched from a neighboring balcony, told the news site.

“So I came running down here to see if he needed help, but he was already running away crying, holding his head.”

Haney said the robber yelled as he made his escape, “Sorry, I need the cash.”

Police released a surveillance video capture of the robber, and asked residents to call the local crime line with tips to earn a reward for the man’s capture.

Hours later, the man – later identified as Carlos Reyes – returned to the store and turned himself in, clerk Krish Myla told WMUR.

Myla said Reyes was crying when he returned the money he allegedly stole and waited for police to face the consequences.

“An officer responded to the store and placed Reyes in custody,” according to the news site. “After reviewing surveillance footage, the officer determined Reyes was the same man who robbed the store.”

Reyes, 46, allegedly told police he held up the Stop-N-Go because he was hungry.

He was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of armed robbery and jailed on a $5,000 cash bond, WMUR reports.

Reyes’ sharp stone heist is among numerous not-so-well-thought-out thefts in recent months.

In March, a Maplewood, Missouri teen was busted for attempting to hold up the Sole Survivor Leather store with a multicolored squirt gun.

A few months before that, in December, a Tulsa, Oklahoma man was quickly identified as the mastermind behind a home invasion because of his face tattoos – two horns on his forehead and the words “F*** COPS” over his eyebrows.
