Hillary Clinton’s campaign is making it more difficult to “unify” with Bernie Sanders supporters as they keep needling him and casting doubt on his legitimacy.

During a rally today in Newark, New Jersey, Congressman Donald Payne ridiculed Bernie Sanders and went so far as to suggest he shouldn’t even be running in the primary.

“Come Tuesday, New Jersey will put Secretary Clinton over the number of delegates she needs in order to be the candidate for the next president of the United States.

“And let me say this: You know, some people have a hard time understanding where their future lies.

“And there’s a guy that’s still hanging around. Still telling people he has a chance,” Payne said, before mimicking Sanders’s voice, saying, “Still telling people, ‘I won this many caucuses.'”

“Ladies and gentlemen, we do not need independents running in the Democratic Party! We need Democrats running in the Democratic Party!”

And then Payne seemed to question Sanders’s motives.

“All that’s happening right now is an attempt to fracture this party, but we’re not going to let that happen, right? We’re going to show them who we’re for, right?

“And New Jersey is going to put Secretary Clinton over the top,” Payne vowed.

It’s not clear why Payne would complain Sanders is still “hanging around” when no candidate has yet won the sufficient number of delegates to clinch the nomination.

Maybe he thinks she just deserves to be coronated?
