Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman admitted today the ongoing investigation into her private email server has “definitely hurt” her, and he acknowledged she chose which emails were handed over to the State Department, and which ones she didn’t.

“I think, you know, it’s definitely hurt her,” campaign chairman John Podesta said at the Code Conference. “She said it was a mistake from the outset. Wished we could take it back, but she used a private email system.

“She also said, ‘Release all the emails.’ And I think that…”

Ezra Klein interjected, “Well, you guys didn’t release all, I mean, you went through and you vetted which emails you were going to be releasing and which ones you weren’t.”

“She gave, she turned over, I don’t think, uh, I don’t think people have contested that. She turned over all her work-related emails. She asked that they all be released,” Podesta said.

“But there was a decision about which ones were work-related, right?” Klein said.

“There was a decision made, yeah, but, you know, the decisions about Chelsea’s wedding were not work-related emails. So, I think that, or you know, her mother’s health care, those weren’t work-related emails.

“Now, it was a mistake in the first place to combine them. She recognizes that, but given the mistakes in this election, is that a mistake that you would judge as disqualifying?

“Maybe some people will,” Podesta said, with a hint of resignation in his voice.

He said because some people see her as “super competent” and “super smart,” they couldn’t believe she could do such a thing.

When Klein observed that the people around Clinton didn’t “understand email very well,” Podesta added, “or faxes.”

“I don’t think she would ever argue that she’s technically sophisticated, but she’s technically understanding.”
