Mariah Smith — the self-proclaimed youngest journalist covering Hillary Clinton today — was interrupted when an event staffer didn’t think she belonged there.

Smith was producing a selfie video from inside the media pen at a California rally venue when she was interrupted.

“Hello everyone, this is Mariah Smith with Voice Waves,” she began. “I’m just letting you know I will be reporting with VoiceWaves.org, the homegrown media outlet, just letting you guys know that listens to what I have to say I’ll be taking video.

“I’ll try to get as far as I can even if I can’t speak to Hillary I’m going to try and make the effort,” Smith was saying as she was interrupted.

“Hey, how are you,” she said to the woman off camera.

“Are, are, are you…” the woman said, with an implied question about Smith’s credentials.

“I was allowed to vlog (video blog) here,” Smith responded.

“Are you sure?” the woman replied.

“I was allowed to vlog here,” Smith said, “yeah, I’m vlogging right now. Voice Waves.

“I know I don’t look legit to you guys,” she said, “you know, it’s hard, it’s tough when you’re not mainstream journalists and you get situations like this and they think that you’re just a punk.

“I’m just out here doing professional work, I’m just trying to get up here in the world just letting you guys know that I’m a young journalist and I have to deal with a lot,” Smith said.

“Woman interrupts me assuming I’m just another reckless teenager crashing the event, but I’m actually a multimedia journalist,” Smith wrote on the video.
