A black man leading a small band of Confederate flag wavers peacefully disrupted the anti-police narrative at an Oklahoma City “Black Lives Matter” protest on Sunday.
Andrew Dencomb, also known as the “black rebel,” appeared at the protest to ensure police officer received support.
Dencomb, who heads Oklahoma Confederate Veterans Lives Matter, says he’s been targeted over his beliefs.
“I can show you a three-page book of death threats from Facebook that I receive. It’s just, I get attacks all the time,” he tells KOKH.
Protesters, meanwhile, denounced Dencomb, calling him a “distraction” and a “diversion.”
“I don’t understand what they’re getting at. Nobody was listening anyway, it’s interrupting everything we are fighting for,” one (white) woman told the news station.
Others weren’t happy with Dencomb’s presence, either.
He was accused of being brainwashed:
Video posted on Twitter by Fox 25 reporter Jordann Lucero showed the small group acting peaceably moments before it appeared a group of protesters were about to confront them:
