It was less than two weeks ago that the New Black Panther Party vowed “justice” for the death of Alton Sterling by the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Or, as they said, the “Pig Department,” as John Binder originally reported.

The Party posted on Facebook an invitation to attend a “demonstration” in front of the Baton Rouge “Pig Department” last Saturday:

Did the group make good on its threat today?

WBRZ reported on Saturday that the black militant group formed a Baton Rouge chapter:

Jerald Justice said the group was approached by local residents like Edwin Smith to help establish a Baton Rouge chapter.

“It is time for new leadership and a new organization to step forward in Baton Rouge,” Smith said. “I feel like the New Black Panther Party is the organization that can bring new leadership to Baton Rouge.”

Founders met Saturday to formally establish the chapter as well as gather names for new members. WBRZ News 2’s Earl Phelps was able to briefly attend the event on the condition that he does not reveal the meeting’s location.

“With the help of the New Black Panther Party, these members should be able to handle any or everything in their city,” Justice said.

It is not yet clear who the perpetrators are, but Baton Rouge police described the suspects:

“If they are wearing army fatigues; if they are wearing all black; if they are wearing a mask; if they are wearing anything that’s out there, please, give us a call,” said Baton Rouge Police Cpl. L.J. McKneely, according to CNN.

That is garb routinely worn by New Black Panther Party members, as evidenced by this photo:
