Even a rally in his own Congressional district is too far for Brad Ashford to be seen with Hillary Clinton.

The Democratic incumbent and Hillary Nebraska campaign co-chair will be “out of town” when Clinton rallies in Omaha later today, KMTV reports.

“I am honored to endorse Hillary Clinton for President,” Ashford said in December as his leadership title was announced. “Her decades of public service have prepared her to lead our nation during these turbulent times.”

But the National Republican Campaign Committee thinks there’s more afoot than a scheduling conflict.

“While he has fully embraced Clinton’s far-left agenda, Ashford knows that she is toxic in the GOP-leaning district he represents and is trying in vain to distance himself,” NRCC spokesman Zach Hunter writes.

Ashford didn’t say where he would be while Clinton is in town. Maybe he’s catching up on that long-overdue task of rearranging his sock drawer?
