Provocative YouTube prankster Joey Salads put Hillary Clinton’s application to become President of the United States into a real world context, and his “social experiment” is providing a sobering commentary on her qualifications.
Salads posted his “FBI Investigation Job Interview (Social Experiment) Hillary Clinton” video to YouTube Monday, and it makes it clear the Democratic presidential candidate would be unlikely to secure even a minimum wage job in America without her political connections.
“You may not know this, but many people do, Hillary Clinton is under FBI investigation and she’s running for president of the United States,” Salads said in the video, which featured a disclaimer informing viewers it was filmed before the agency opted not to pursue charges against Clinton, despite evidence her private email server compromised national security while she was Secretary of State under President Obama.
“So I came up with a social experiment where I’m going to apply for six fast food and convenience store jobs working minimum wage. On my application, I’m going to put ‘under FBI investigation’ and see if I get any call backs,” Salads continued.
“On two of the applications, I am not going to write ‘under FBI investigation’ to see if they call me back.”
Salads scoped out locations that were hiring, and tuned in his applications – at a Wendy’s, a McDonald’s, a private pizza shop, a grocery store, and other locations.
At a stop at what appears to be an independent pizza shop, the man accepting the application appears eager to hire Salads for a delivery driver position, asking him if he can start right away, and interviewed him on the spot. The man quickly shift his attitude, however, after Salads highlights his alleged FBI troubles.
“So you could probably start right away? Driving, because I need drivers,” the man said.
“I can start tonight if you want, but … I didn’t write it on there, I’m actually under FBI investigation,” Salads replied.
“For what though? What happened?” the man questioned.
“I used to work for the government, and I mishandled government documents and it could have gotten in the hands of terrorists and stuff,” Salads said. “I don’t know if that is going to be a problem.”
“You know what, let me think about it and I’ll give you a call,” the man said. “Don’t … I’ll call you. Give me a little while to look over everything and let me see what’s what …”
It was a similar response at the grocery store.
“What’s this?” a man accepting Salads’ application asked, pointing to the disclosure about the FBI investigation.
“I’m under FBI investigation for something that I did. Is that going to be a problem?” Salads replied.
“Uh … maybe,” the man said. “What happened?”
“I mishandled government documents,” Salads said.
The man said the deli was hiring and asked whether Salads had experience, which he said he did not but he was willing to learn.
The man confirmed his contact information, and Salads cut to the chase.
“Is that going to be a problem?” he asked, pointing to the application. “The FBI investigation.”
“I don’t know,” the man said. “If the FBI is going to come in here and arrest you mid-shift, yes.”
“Is that something that could happen?”
“It’s possible,” Salads said.
“I’ll hold on to your application and ask the deli manager what he thinks and we’ll give you a call, if anything,” the man said.
After four days with no call backs from his applications, Salads performed a round of calls to inquire about the silence.
One place told Salads they would have to call Homeland Security to check on his background before they would consider hiring him, while others didn’t bother to respond to his messages.
“One was just telling me to call back, and then we had that other place saying that they were going to check with Homeland Security before I get the job,” Salads said. “So, as you can see, I didn’t get any jobs, unless my Homeland Security check comes out ok, I can work at the Dollar Tree.
“As you can see from the beginning part of when I went on these small, I guess they were kind of like, interviews, they were all taken aback when I was under FBI investigation,” he continued.
“Now, Hillary Clinton, she’s under FBI investigation. If I can’t get a minimum wage job because I’m under FBI investigation, they why should Hillary be president?”
