Maybe they don’t want to hear anything more about his idea to rebuild Detroit with Syrian refugees.
Bill Clinton will be seen — but not heard — at Detroit’s Labor Day parade this morning.
The former president will be appearing on behalf of his wife, but remarkably, organizers did not give Clinton a speaking slot.
The Detroit Free Press reports:
Clinton will march with organized labor down Michigan Avenue in Detroit this morning and greet union members along the way. He’s not scheduled to speak at the end of the parade.
Has Bill Clinton ever appeared *anywhere* that he wasn’t allowed to speak?
Is this punishment for his idea to populate Detroit the Syrian refugees?
Fox News reported:
At the 2016 Clinton Global Initiative in February, Clinton suggested that Syrian refugees could be brought to Detroit to help rebuild the city, calling it an “enormous opportunity for Americans.”
“Detroit has 10,000 empty, structurally sound houses — 10,000,” Clinton said. “And lot of jobs are to be had repairing those houses. Detroit just came out of bankruptcy and the mayor’s trying to do an innovative sort of urban homesteading program there. But it just gives you an example of what could be done. And I think any of us who have ever had any personal experience with either Syrian Americans or Syrian refugees think it’s a pretty good deal.”
