Vogue reports Gucci is an Italian based luxury house run by creative director Alessandro Michele, though Michelle has been continuously praised by the media for wearing American-based brands like J. Crew and Jason Wu.
“It’s not often that we see Michelle Obama wear designers from outside of the United States,” according to the fashion magazine, which said Obama’s dress was “underscoring the global reach of First Lady style.”
