It looks like Hillary Clinton’s desperate move to revive Donald Trump’s alleged connections to questions about Barack Obama’s birthplace is blowing up in her face.
Former McClatchy DC Bureau Chief James Asher posted several tweets yesterday and today, claiming Clinton confidante Sidney Blumenthal spread the allegations to him “face to face.”

“CNN says Hillary team in 2008 never raised Obama’s birth in Kenya,” Asher writes. “Who is close to HRC than Sid Blumenthal, who told me face-to-face.”
Asher wasn’t done.
“Sid Blumenthal, long-time HRC buddy, told me in person Obama born in Kenya,” he followed up.

About an hour later, Asher replied directly to Clinton on Twitter.

When Clinton brought up birtherism again, and attempted to tie it to Trump, Asher responded, “So why did your man Sid Blumenthal spread the Obama birther rumor to me in 2008, asking us to investigate?
“Remember?” he says.
Clinton didn’t respond.
