A grandmother who was suckerpunched while standing on the sidewalk in Jamaica, Queens last fall has succumbed to her injuries.
69-year-old Eve Gentillon was allegedly attacked by 29-year-old Richard Springer on October 15 after he “brawled” with a deli worker over a $3 beer, PIX 11 reported last year.
Video showed Springer walk out of the establishment and punch Gentillon in the head, causing her to fall backwards.
He then walked away.
The woman laid unconscious on the sidewalk for 10 minutes before help arrived.
She has been hospitalized since the attack, and had to have a piece of her skull removed due to the brain injury.
According to NY1, she has now died.
After the attack, Springer was arrested and charged with robbery and two counts of assault. Upgraded charges are now expected due to Gentillon’s death.
